Tai chi is an ancient martial arts exercise that enhances the awareness of internal energy or Qi (pronounced "Chee"), while improving strength, flexibility, balance, and the sense of the mind and body connection. Characterized by soft harmonious movements that emphasize internal connection and alignment, tai chi is also practiced as a moving meditation to achieve inner peace and tranquility. Join All That Matters acupuncturist Sanford Lee to learn the basic principles of traditional Yang style tai chi chuan and a set of movement exercises from the Short Form, which maintains the essence of the traditional Yang Style postures but is easier to learn.  Students are encouraged to wear loose fitting clothes and bring comfortable tai chi shoes. Qigong is an ancient art of cultivating the body's vital energy - called Qi (pronounced "Chee"). It has long been practiced in Asia to promote health and healing. Traditional Eastern Medicine views Qi as the basic constituent of our body as well as of the Universe. Through breath work, movement, and guided thoughts, students will learn to raise their awareness of Qi for health promotion. These are techniques to achieve balance and harmony with the world around us and to activate the energy centers that regulate our bodily functions.  The class is designed to nurture a consistent practice and develop a healthy discipline.
